The Lord of Shadows Rises - James Terzian

Good story, good characters and storyline however a good editing will greatly make this book move to a higher rating.  I was entertained even though at times I got side track figuring out who had said what.  I look forward to reading the next one, good luck. Received a free book winner through Booklikes.  Thank you!

Fantastic adventure and the characters were many however they made every page enjoyable to read and follow.  The illustrations kept a good visual picture in my mind perfectly in sync with the event.  The mystical characters played a good role and kept me entertained, you can feel the magic.  Cute, soothing and a fun read, the author made it a joy to read.  Received a free book, winner Booklikes, thank you!

Sunset at Lake Crane by Casey Hagen

Sunset At Lake Crane (The Livingston Valley Series) (Volume 1) - Casey Hagen

Erynn and Grant what a tale of secrets. The cost of it’s secret made me sad and dropped a few tears and I wanted to embrace Erynn hug her like a mother would. Grant I felt his pain just as much as Erynn, so much crap they had to endure all because, ‘ahem’ S-E-C-R-ET-S. This story exudes a roller coaster of tense emotions whether you side with Erynn or Grant. Other characters you will laugh with Kat, tough as nails and a mouth to boot but there’s a reason why but a true friend to Erynn. I laughed so hard when Avery came into the mix of things, poor Grant blindsided. Reasons to leave and a pendant of love and pain, a friend betrayal, the tide turns, it all started with a note. I read this wonderful book in two days why? I’m too curious and too anxious which is my downfall, however I loved this story, everything about it swoon me and I cried, laugh and fanned myself cool, pursed my lips and yelled the word ‘stupid.’ Great book to read and make you appreciate the person you are spending your life with, right at this very moment. So with that I recommend this splendid heartache of a romance. Whew . . . .!
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review and this is my honest to goodness review. Oh, you know I have to get the next one.
Thank you so much.

Fire, Fury, Faith: Winged Warriors by: Natalie Jones (author) N.D. Jones (author) Ryan Vincent Anderson (author)

Fire, Fury, Faith: Winged Warriors - N. D. Jones, Ryan Vincent Anderson, Natalie Jones

I found this story intense following angels through the end of time, through the hybrid development and thereafter.  Besides the obvious  I was privileged  to journey with Issa and Serwa.  The angels and demons enters each stage of dimensions but no matter what dimension the story made you feel the horrific effects, the HUNT.  Demon dripping with heat and evil I felt their very being, how could it be?  Aww . . . the voice of the narrator brought pictures in my mind swirling with makeshift scenes.  I truly enjoyed the whole plot and followed it with ease.  Morbid pictures fluttered but delightful ones rushed through.  Funny though when one scene heats up the other cools it down or smothered it out .  Excellent audio book, I receive a free audio book, winner Booklikes Giveaway.  Thank you!

Rising Tide: Dark Innocence (The Maura DeLuca Trilogy #1)

Rising Tide: Dark Innocence - Claudette Melanson

Rising Tide will sink its fangs into you, keeping you awake into the wee hours of the night

Could Maura's life get any worse? ...turns out it most certainly can.

Isolated and sheltered by her lonely mother, Maura's never been able to make friends. She seems to drive her classmates away—except for the odd times they pay enough attention to torture her—but she doesn’t understand why. Maura considers herself to be a freak of nature, with her unusually pale skin and an aversion to the sun that renders her violently nauseous. Her belief is only worsened by the fact that almost everyone around her keeps their distance.

Even her own father deserted her before she was born, leaving Maura alone with her emotionally distant mother, Caelyn. Even though Maura is desperate for answers about her unknown parent, Caelyn remains heartbroken and her daughter can’t bring herself to reopen her mother’s wounds. Or is there a more sinister reason Caelyn refuses to utter a word about her long-lost love?

When a cruel prank nearly claims Maura’s life, one of her classmates, Ron, rushes to her rescue. Darkly handsome & mysteriously accepting, Ron doesn’t seem to want to stay away, but Maura is reluctant to get too close, since her mother has announced she’s moving the two of them to Vancouver…nearly 3,000 miles away from their hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

If life wasn’t already challenging enough, Maura begins to experience bizarre, physical changes her mother seems hell bent on ignoring, compelling Maura to fear for her own life. Vicious nightmares, blood cravings, failing health and the heart-shattering loss of Ron—as well as the discovery of a tangled web of her own mother's lies—become obstacles in Maura's desperate quest for the unfathomable truth she was never prepared to uncover.

MY REVIEW:

Sorry I took so long to leave a review, I must say Maura is someone I enjoyed reading about, okay there's  something strange going on, this story made me laugh and say things I cannot repeat.  The power of restrain duly noted almost funny too.  Being a teenager is stressful but add the stigma "Children Of The Night, you can already guess how good this story ended up to be.  The author wrote this tale to the delight of my paranormal fantasy and the characters were so good and quite likeable yet at times I went, 'geez whiz,' enough!  The writing flowed smoothly and moments of tension was truly felt because the writing made all the difference.   Cute,  coming of age human/vampirism story.  Wonderful read.  Thank you, I received a free book, winner Booklikes Book Giveaway.

The Ark of Attrition - Scott Kotrous

Rabid zombies and a nuclear war catapult the United States into the apocalypse. As the truth emerges about what happened, families do everything they can to survive.

A catastrophic biological terrorist attack has struck the United States, bringing about a rabies-like plague that's turning many citizens into creatures that resemble zombies. Further attacks have triggered World War III and left only the prepared and fortunate alive.

John Angelite and his family are among them as they bunker down in a hollowed-out space in the mountains, but they choose to leave their safe haven to rescue his niece Maggie and her friends.

Simon, an ex-military biologist, grapples with the question of why some zombies are faster, more aggressive, and able to adapt and survive. After a zombie bites one of his family members, Simon races tirelessly to find an answer. The military wants his secrets—supposedly to find a cure—but Simon doubts their intentions.

Soon a devastating snowstorm freezes the zombies—giving them the much-needed time they need to take action. But will it be enough, or is it already too late?

The Ark of Attrition, the second book in The Ark Series trilogy, is a suspenseful story of the fight for survival against insurmountable odds.

My Review:

This story moved swiftly eloquently action galore. Every scene was exciting and worth the read and re-read. I just could not get enough of each character in this story, all so interesting. You have the weak that proved to be strong when it comes down to the nitty gritty and you have the badass fighters or the disgusting zombies and the a-holes who prey on the weak, freeloaders. Amazing how one story addressed so many things, so many events, so many news worthy situation that unfolded in this tale, simply amazing. Phenomenal, the author included everything in his story that touched the mind of every person out there, thinking about the crisis we are facing and the worries we anticipate will happen eventually and governments myths which turned out to be true. Paranoia or truth, you choose, hmm . . . Just the inner works of each scene from Maggie’s situation and the potheads to her Uncle John and his Ark and the rescue mission to Simon and his son Peter to whom is being hunted. Things unfold and truth be told, only to be put aside because something more deadly will wreck HAVOC upon them once it warms up. Hemp for fuel, super soldier, ooh . . . there’s more to discuss so much more but it would behoove you to read it for yourself. I was so entertained with the precise breathtaking action, the search, the hunt and the attack and rescue recovery. Thank you, best read so far!!! This story can continue on because so much material to go around, especially now I gotta know. I received a free digital download in exchange for an honest review and this is my

honest review. Awesome!!! Thank you...

The Ark Of Asylum by Scott Kotrous

The Ark of Asylum (The Ark Series #1) - Scott Kotrous
First let me tell you how much this story got my mind racing and all agitated. The adrenaline rush left me exhausted but the story exploded with so much action made me wonder, could such abomination happen? The author penned issues the world is facing today and gave scenarios of how people feel about the government but the powerful message it carried were astonishing. If this book don’t motivate you or me with the mindset of a DOOMSDAY PREPPERS than you are a lost cause. The story started slow but it had its reason, what is it you ask? Everything is in the details, oh. . . wait did I say that right? The devil is hiding in the details, okay that sounds right, duh! For this particular tale it had to be explicitly detailed to fully grasp the what and why and how. Each occurrences made me think and contemplate, either what the hell? Anti this and anti that, when the @&%# hit the fan nothing matters but to survive or if you can survive. The ‘gold’ part was way out there however the author made it happen. The beginning crept slowly than the idea of a massive project to undertake only enhance the story further to a full blown wonderment. As I reached the middle part of the book I was enveloped into its belief maybe terrorist or (?) or (?) . Not to give anything away but moving towards the end of the story, “WOW.” Geez just perfect! The last few sentences at the end, hmm . . . all it takes is one, just one and “The Book of Revelation” comes into play. The characters were exciting, some more than others, well John I call him the founder of all in this story, complex, his views (hippie) but had his strong points. Did I enjoy it, 100%. Thank you to the author for the free digital download in exchange for an honest review and this is my honest review. You are an aspiring author, indeed. Thank you!

Cogling by Elizabeth Jordan

Cogling - Elizabeth Jordan

Coglings, gears and gadgets tick . . . tick . . .  tick . . . don't sniff it, quietly and silently whisked away to a place hidden.  Ashen skin, grey shades slowly overtaking their bodies.  Witches more like hags, yes HAGS galore, tomtars with skinny bird legs subservient.  A dreary gloomy existence, work they must, no choice in the matter either be a beggar or a harlot or a thief.  Edna forced to work at the age of fifteen no time to play or look prissy, need to help the family, the creed of the kingdom one must work  at the age of seven brother Harrison worked alongside her.  "We're not that poor yet that we have to eat garbage",  hmm . . . we have to see about that.  Things goes haywire, Coglings appears way too many of them.  Replacements for whom?  What is wrong with him, stares blankly not knowing what to do as if he never been here?  Is he sick?  Money don't come easy must save for scraps of food, save for the rent, save to survive.  Gin joint singer, laying train tracks all Edna knows  they're out there  working.  Edna takes on the responsibilities to look after Harrison.   Ike  a seventeen year old, a rag tag disheveled young man.  His eyes tells something different should I believe him, should I trust him? Trust him with my heart?  Hag blood, Ogre blood, Human blood, blood everywhere.  Magic intertwine this tale where Soot Demons bite is deadly and hooves of Nix with their quiver and bows, four legged mechanical wolves with razor sharp teeth, mechanical spies hover above scratching and scattering to report to Mother Sambucus, The Dark Mother.  "Foul human beasts, they took their charms and potions, begged for blessings, and then shunned you".  Odds bobs,I'm not a thief!  No, Edna aka Eddie is not a thief far from it, strong willed, devoted, loyal and compassionate but most of all a good sister, no wait something else is waiting.   I was truly entertained by her fighting spirit, along the way she discovers her inner demons just maybe.  Edna hides within keeping the evil at bay, but evil it might not be.   The metal gadgets of objects and metal contraptions of machinery were fascinating.  The author detail description made me feel how it looked and how it worked and how dangerous it could be and had become.  The characters were exciting, wicked and brutal, full of life.  The fighting with just the right action either minor to major gore, perfect.  The magic splendidly sizzles to cause such electricity throughout.  There were many times I thought okay Edna and Ike will be okay, 'NOT'  another round of tense moments, always running, always fighting, always dumped in the most disgusting places, ha . . . ha . . .  ha . . . just ask Lady Rachel.   Parts unnerved me, some parts exasperated me, at the same time I laughed, made a fist  and my heart squeezed so with this I must say I unequivocally enjoyed this magical steampunk read.  Thank you  to the author for  the digital download.  This is my honest review. Thank you again!  P.S. the book cover beautiful and perfect for "Cogling."

MY REVIEW:

I enjoyed this book from every angle, I got to imagine what if? The following through was so exciting. Yes the leading to the relationship were splendid and the adventure to Fiji ooh...... do I have to say more. Watching a soap opera but sooo.. much enticing. The author wrote it with so much passion that I felt the passion both characters projected. Fast paced and never a dull moment. Cute and funny and romantically swoon worthy. Received a free book, winner through Booklikes, thank you, Darlene Cruz
Sorry I took so long leaving a review.

Of High Treason by Ember Shane

Of High Treason - Ember Shane

Phenomenal highly stressed heart racing, excitable kind of read.

Zombie royalty, normal and productive member of society? Fighting the instinct to shade to royalty. Savory taste of raw flesh. Graceful, acrobatic flair leaps and bound. Faster than Coyotes, Zombie Feeding Habits 101. Who shades back to Human? Does drinking alcohol affects a royal senses? Homicidal powers now comes a butt load of responsibility. The word kill cause vivid images of a recent meal. Doyle Sean Hawthorne
tsk ... tsk...tsk, awesome zombie. Squabble with a love one, no kidding. Addy said, "I never said you couldn't t_ _ _ _ me. What I said was I don't want you t_ _ _ _ _ _ g me while you think about your ex-girlfriend.
Geez, woman there's a reason a SAFE word he uses is his ex-girlfriend name, one to remember and second, not to shade (turn all zombie like). Addy continues, "I'd rather have your blue alter ego than have you Flesh-Colored and thinking of her. Okay some adult theme but I really enjoyed the zombies thought process though.  The author chose words so intricately to convey every emotions a zombie function on. Some adult theme, Zombie do what?

Ha . . . ha . . . ha . . . quite the imagination. Colony has rules, four in all; however will he abide by them? Reflexes too fast, play nice are you ready to play nice? Would you rather be in captivity, abstinence, and starvation? Drugs and viruses, yes I will stop and leave you hanging. Get the book and see what happens to Doyle and the others, you will not be disappointed. Thank you!

Of Royal Descent (The Doyle Hawthorne Series, #1) by Ember Shane

Of Royal Descent - Ember Shane

Heading towards a colony of zombies, ahh . . . that's right brain chomping creepy dead people well not people just yucky dead thing. But some are actually using their brains, no. . . not the zombies, or is it? So entertaining, the right intensity and darkness yet comical antidote. I enjoyed the two main characters Doyle and Chuck, friends like no other both are a breath of fresh air to this book. Doyle sets out on a journey to find answers of course Chuck in tow and the answer they sought, well you just have to read the book to find out. This zombie story was different from others I had read, virus and activation of the virus, dreams and the many family secrets. All in all I really enjoyed it!!! I received a free book that I had won through BookLikes Giveaway. Thank you!  I do appreciate the free book too.

P.S. I forgot to mention the author's writing style, what can I say but perfect and very descriptive not boring just engaging to keep me reading and guessing. The next book should be exciting!  Good job.

Magic Brew by T. Rae Mitchell

— feeling amazing
Magic Brew - T. Rae Mitchell

The wide range of powerful misfit that are either pure bred or mixed bred overpowered this unique gang story. Gangs? All takes place in the vicinity of New York City, a summit of all gangs in New York will gather. but something goes terribly wrong, two separate being joins forces and havoc errupts. Got to get back to Coney Island where the 'Forsakens' home turf is safe and sacred grounds, which they control. Now the travel back to Coney (southwestern Brooklyn) right there made this story the thriller and adventure I certainly enjoyed. The abundance of characters and let me tell you I made a mental note of who and what they were and to top it off their unique abilities is mind blowing. Did I get confused at some point? Maybe a tad but I found myself so absorbed in the intensity that I dismiss that hiccup and moved on. This one particular gang called the 'Forsaken' a tight knit and uniquely bonded group of colorful characters of half breeds. You have, Djin mixed with something and this something is part of the mystery. Besides the Djin, you have various demons mixed with pixies or witches or warlocks, vampires. Japanese Oni demon, okay that really got my interest. Shadow walker, fire elemental, selkies, goblins, gnomes, so much and so good. That is not the half of it, the gangs, well . . . well . . . well . . . Deathwalkers, Wraiths, Shifters, Bonegrinders, Shamrocks, Red Dragons, Mechs, Pink Ladies, Carnies, of course I cannot leave the Bad Hat gang out of this mess and if you read the story you will know the reason why. Each gangs have gnarly abilities that you would not wish upon your worse enemies. After reading what they could do goosebumps crawled all over my arms, eek! The struggles the protaganist 'Edge' endures, being half Djin and half?. Okay what's up with the other half, the essence of this story is based on the other half of his hereditary gene. Edge knows one half of what he is but the other half will dumbfound him so much so it might change the course of events or will it? The Forsaken is a misfit of a gang but what binds them together, the pain, the banishment, the rejection and abandonment? All the above but friendship and belonging equals family. So much more to read and so much will unfold that this story will leave a smile on your face like it did to me. You will have your moments of displeasure and pleasure and you will feel their disappointment and their pain and lost, sniff . . . sniff . . . shucks the water works will happen. The author eloquently wrote with such flair and vigor to make you feel and believe and I truly did. Now I must confess I saw a movie that was made in 1979 called the 'Warriors' uncanny similarity but the difference the mythical creatures and paranormal vibes. No matter, because I was entertained. There's more to the story but I will leave it up to you to read it, I cannot write anymore on this review or else a novel of a review will be displayed. Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to have a free ARC digital download, oh yeah I ordered my digital download when it comes out. Thank you!

Amaranthine: Heart of Decompose - Nina R. Schluntz

Santa . . . Santa . . . this Santa change my way of thinking.  Warlocks, Dragons, Zombies, Unicorns of course but wait what about the plague?  Who is the host of the plague?  Who can manipulate him?  I got misdirected from time to time but I knew the magic enveloped this tale and all the transformation and manipulation, did I say manipulate one to many times? Ooh, Unicorn with glowing eyes for real not unless you got infected.  Who or what destroyed Earth, she could control minds now they know who.  Never to touch the vassal the dragon knows, remain pure.  Incapacitated people who fed on them? Let me see, 'Zombies.'  A boy invents a device that can trap the Ho Ho Ho man, Santa, all with the combination of science and magic.  I found this story wildly intriguing and way out there.  My imagination ran a gamut here and rightfully so with colorful characters.  I was truly entertained.  Oh one more thing, the author wrote with such a strong voice that it was transparent when I  turned and read each page. I received a free copy that I had won through BookLikes Giveaway. Thank you!
